On Wednesday, August 6, 2014, the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians (“Tribe”) announced that proceeds from the recent 2014 Four Winds Invitational, 5K Run, and Fitness Walk would be donated to Memorial Children’s Hospital of South Bend, Indiana. According to the Tribe, the $77,500 donation will be used by the hospital to provide Giraffe Warmers, equipment used to assist in the care of newborns, to the Newborn Intensive Care Unit.

The 2014 Four Winds Invitational was held from June 20-22, 2014 as part of the Symetra Tour – Road to the LPGA and featured over 100 golfers from around the world. It was held at the Blackthorn Golf Club in South Bend.

Proceeds from the tournament event, which was added to the Symetra Tour in 2012, have consistently been allocated to local charities. This year’s donation marks the third straight year that the Tribe has provided funds to be used for the hospital, providing a total of $187,000 to the facility over this time period. Last year, the Tribe provided $56,500 to provide a neonatal incubator transport unit for the hospital’s MedFlight helicopter program.
